HOW TO JOIN

JLB Membership Information

THE FALL 2027 PROVISIONAL CLASS APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1, 2027. 

Are you interested in becoming a member of the Junior League of Birmingham? Any woman who meets the following criteria is invited to join:

    • Attain 23 years of age by September of the Provisional term.
    • Reside in the Greater Birmingham area.
    • Demonstrate an interest in voluntarism and a commitment to community service, with most community service activities taking place within a ten-mile radius of the Birmingham city limits.
    • Be able to devote time and resources to JLB programming, training, and events in a meaningful way.

If you meet these criteria, please follow the steps below to begin the process of joining.

Step 1: Complete your profile. Click here to create a profile.

Once you have created your profile, you will receive an email verifying your account. Please note that this is not the application for membership. Forgot your profile username or password? Please call the JLB Building at 205-879-9861 or send an email to admissions@jlbonline.com.

Step 2: Attend an in-person or virtual Open House

Join us at an upcoming Membership Open House to learn more about the JLB. Our open houses provide an opportunity to meet and greet with our current members, hear more about JLB and its impact on the community, and receive additional information about the application process and provisional year requirements. Attending an Open House is a required part of the application process. Register for an upcoming Open House below:

Wednesday, January 13, 2027 at 6:00 pm

Saturday, January 23, 2027 at 9:00 am

Step 3: Submit your Membership Application. 

Return to the profile you created to access the online membership application. Complete the application and pay the $100 application fee by February 1, 2027. Applications are reviewed after February 1, 2027 and acceptances will be sent via email. Any application received after the deadline of February 1, 2027 will be considered for the next year’s class, Fall 2028.

As part of your application, you will be responsible for securing two Junior League of Birmingham sponsors. You will need their information to fill out the sponsor portion of the application (name and email address). Sponsors must have completed one year as an Active member and be in good standing. Remember, JLB members are everywhere, so search your networks—friends, work, your place of worship, professional organizations, social media networks and other charitable organizations with which you are involved.

Step 4: Complete Enrollment in the Fall 2027 Provisional Course

In addition to the Application Fee, all accepted applicants must pay 2027-2028 dues and provisional course fee by May 31, 2027 to complete enrollment in the Fall 2027 Provisional Course. Upon payment, you will receive confirmation of your place in the Fall 2027 Provisional Course.

Please note that this process is for new members only; if you have ever been a member of the JLB or any other Junior League in the past, please follow the steps to reinstate or transfer your membership.
